This is a brand-new Rehabilitation center in Hammond, LA. The healthcare facility incorporates advanced rehabilitation and diagnostic equipment, including Hydro Treadmills, Portable X-Ray Machines, Lokomat Systems, ErigoPro Devices, NuStep Trainers, and other specialized medical equipment designed to support patient recovery and rehabilitation programs.
One of the primary challenges of the project was the design and distribution of electrical power throughout the facility while accommodating long procurement lead times for a 1600A service switchboard. To mitigate project schedule impacts, the electrical distribution system was redesigned utilizing a service-rated splice box and wireway distribution arrangement in compliance with the NEC 230.71(Maximum number of Disconnect Rule) requirements. The team performed detailed wireway sizing calculations and coordinated the service distribution layout to ensure code compliance and maintain system reliability.
Another significant challenge involved optimizing power distribution across the entire facility while minimizing voltage drop due to the building's size and equipment loading requirements. The electrical design also included generator sizing and load calculations, emergency power distribution, isolated grounding systems, and emergency receptacles for patient rooms.
Additionally, 3S MEP+S developed lighting and power systems, electrical room layouts, and equipment elevations showing the installation of switchboards, panelboards, ATSs, disconnects, and wireways, ensuring a code-compliant, reliable, and maintainable electrical infrastructure.
